CRITTER HUNTING aka RATS

SW 6

There are four venues of critter hunting: Rat Games, Barn Hunt, North American Sport Dog (NASDA) and Earth Dog.

We offer instruction in all venues except Earth Dog. Since most dogs that critter hunt compete in multiple venues, we combine the instruction for Rat Games, Barn Hunt and North American Sport Dog (NASDA) into one class for rat hunting.

Instruction is individualized by level with multiple hunts set up weekly. Dogs and handlers learn to hunt rats in dog safe boxes and tubes. They learn to find exposed and hidden rats. Classes vary from weekly focusing on one or more of the venues' games. Rules for all organizations are discussed and hides from all venues are used.

RATS (ALL Levels)

Rat hunting is all about finding "hot" scent in the midst of other scents. Newcomers get highly individualized instruction in rat hunting basic skills like locating the dog safe boxes or tubes the rats are in, signaling, height work, etc. and advanced dogs get practice seeking hot cent on courses from the various venues. We focus on getting beginning dogs working courses quickly while giving our competing dogs plenty of practice time on course. Dogs at all levels train and hunt in the same class. Dogs may start at any time during the month. Rat Class runs continuously. Drop-ins are welcome. Please enroll once so we have your contact information. Class Fees:
$25 per class per dog for drop-ins paid at class or $20 per dog per class if paid monthly.
Mondays 5:30-8:00 p.m. Instructors: McQuillen and Rhoades
