HANGTOWN DOG WALKERS

Hangtown Dog Walkers aka HDW is a walking group that was created in 2018 to help our furry friends get more exercise and exposure to the world. The group varies from walk to walk but is usually around 15-20 people and their dogs. We typically walk 1-1.5 hours depending on the time of year, weather, and the participants.

HDW walks are scheduled around the Comp K9 Training Center and El Dorado County. We alternate walks (one evening and one weekend, typically Sunday) between nature (El Dorado Trail type) and Urban locations like old town Folsom or Placerville, El Dorado Hills Town Center, etc. We do one to two longer walks a year in a unique locations like Lake Folsom, the American River Canyon, or a street fair in Sacramento. We're always open to ideas for those.

The goal of the group is exercise and fun while giving our dogs the opportunity to practice their manners around other dogs, experience unique sights and sounds or new situations.

Come join the fun. There is no fee. Call our main number at 530.620.3000 and our Registrar will put you on the walk list. We ask you to call ahead so we can contact you about any changes that arise that relocate the meeting location or cancel the walk that day (fire in the area, severe thunderstorms, temperature over 103, etc.

On the day of the walk, show up at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Remember to bring water for yourself and your dog since that’s not always available.
